Biography Ambra Trotto
Ambra is currently studio director at Interactive Institute Swedish ICT in Umeå, Sweden and associate professor (universitetslektor) at the School of Architecture of the University of Umeå. She is part of the council of Ideal Lab, Norway and member of the program council at the Umeå School of Architecture. In December 2012, she defended her doctoral Thesis “Rights through Making, skills for pervasive ethics” at the Eindhoven University of Technology. From 2007 to 2011 I have been a research fellow at the University of Florence, Department of Technologies of Architecture and Design “P. Spadolini”. Her main research theme since 2007 is Rights through Making, that is a result of the collaboration of the two Institutions. The research focus started from Universal Design (Design for All) and developed towards Ethics in Design, and the role that Craftsmanship and Cultures play in ethical design processes and how they empower towards designing for Pervasive Ethics. Some of the other research projects, such as DaciaDesign, Land Flower Design are examples of research-through-design, being combined with didactic activities.
