Biography Anna Croon Fors
Anna Croon Fors is lecturer at the department of Informatics at the Umeå University. In spring 2006 she defended her dissertation Being-with Information Technology: Critical explorations beyond use and design a technology critical study of the relationship between information and meaning making in everyday life. During the period 2007-2010 she has been conducting research on gender, digital technology and innovation within the framework of a research project entitled “Gender oriented design studies of innovative use of IT.” Moreover, she has been engaged in critical and technology philosophical studies of IT since the early 90s. Together with her colleagues in the Life Research Group, she studied a range of social phenomena raised by information technology’s increasing presence in people’s life. For example, blogs, chats, virtual worlds and communities. Common to such social phenomena is that they give expression to the digital culture that increasingly characterize and influence our life-world and our meaning. More info can be found on her website.
